Would like to try Thackley as well, but I've got plans tomorrow unfortunately, and a skills area might be a bit much for me given I don't have a great deal of skill yet! Will definitely be down on thurs, could you give me rough directions to where you guys are from the wood lane direction? Cheers

Basically from Harrogate Road (A658), turn on to Calverley Cutting. Go over the bridge crossing the canal into the woods. Turn left where the little car park is on to Thornhill Drive. Go through the gate and you're on the fireroad at the bottom of the hill. Take the second right track that comes out on to the fireroad and you'll see a jump going into a mini bombhole - that's the main track we'll probably be on. It's only about 15 metres or so after you go through the gate, can't miss it - you should see the tyre tracks at the bottom too.

Digs is riding in from Calverley so going down to Harrogate road and round is a long way for a short cut.

Head down wood lane or Thornhill drive IIRC you go through a small gate or similar follow the main track for a few hundred yards and you should come to a junction (may have a green metal gate) straight on takes you onto broken tarmac and then the big houses on Clara drive right takes you on the main bridleway round the lower end of the woods and canal.

Turn right and head down the hill as it opens out you will see the main track splits (either side of a old stone post) take the left hand route and follow down hill before it levels off about 50-100yrds before you get to a gate (big houses) turn/look left and you should see the bottom end of the tracks the guys are riding make you're way up.

I do know a shorter easier way to get to the top of the woods and the trails the guys ride but its more difficult to explain and again its been years, you head straight on towards Clara drive but turn right before you get to the gate should be a small trail that twists into woods follow this round left and you go past a sunken area with a few steps. keep going as it twists around you should see the back end of the gardens from the houses on clara drive and a boulder above the small cliff. keep going following the left hand trail almost along the gardens and you should come to a rocky section above a big bomb hole the guys will be around here.

Details may be a little off but not ridden that way in 8 years

Cant make this Thurs as waiting for new wheels to turn up. Got some Stan Flows on Hope 2's which should be up for me bulldozing my way down the track
